Volunteer Tutor

Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with students for a month to even more than a year in improving reading comprehension, persuasive and academic writing, math, technology and/or study skills.  Volunteer tutors volunteer once or twice a week to help prepare their students to college by focusing on improved literacy skills. Content Area Tutor

Volunteer content area tutors help students with specific classes.  Common classes are business statistics, introduction to business, core nursing classes and math.  Volunteers may work up to three times a week for a shorter time frame (5 – 10 weeks) to help students pass the class. Academic Coach

Academic coaches work one-on-one with students on their reading comprehension, persuasive and academic writing, math and technology and/or student skills to prepare them for postsecondary education.  Students may only need tutoring for six weeks to a year.  Tutors provide academic support for students’ entire academic experience. Career Literacy Coach

Career literacy coaches work one-on-one with students to provide career mentoring in addition to improving students’ literacy skills. Volunteers have concrete professional (either current or retired) experience in the students’ prospective field of student.  Volunteers find ways for the literacy skills to be relevant to one’s professional, set up career shadowing experience and can help with job-related skills. Administrative Volunteer

Administrative volunteers help with data entry, special projects, making copies, sending emails and coordinating postal and electronic mailings.  Volunteers can volunteer remotely or in a physical setting. Click HERE for the full description.

Project/Consulting Volunteer

Project and consulting volunteers provides services of expertise to CSA.  If you have skills and/or expertise in grant writing, public relations, office management, graphic art or any other skill to help use, we would like to hear from you!  You can also have your place of employment provide volunteer services to us.  Project volunteers may be on a committee, help with an event or fundraiser.
